For the first time ever baseball legend Rusty Staub “Le Grande O’range” is doing a Google Hangout On Air. We’ll be talking baseball with Rusty along with finding out about the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. This charity was started by Rusty in 1985 to help the widow’s and children of New York City first responders killed in the line of duty.
Joining us on the hangout will be sports bloggers Mark Berman of http://www.bloggingmets.com and Stephen Hanks from http://MetsMerizedOnline.com. In addition we will have some of Rusty’s fans joining us.

I have been a huge fan since I’m 12 and I’m now 53. I still have the letters you wrote me the year you broke your wrist and couldn’t play. We are kindred spirits; we share the same wonderful birthday….April 1st and fools we are not!!! LOL!!!! My former employer also saw you a few years ago at a fundraiser and you gave him a note to give to me….I was so touched by that and I will cherish these items forevery. I still have my Mr. Mets doll that I drew your name and number on the back of and #4 has and will always be my lucky number. I won a lot of stuff on the wheels on the boardwalk playing that number. I hope I get the chance to participate in this hangout. If not, I just want you to know that this one Mets fan whose life you really touched. God Bless you always not only for being you but for the great humanitarian efforts you have done.
